Mid-Year Course Correction?

Hello Summer! Man, did the heat come in quickly, or what? Counting my blessings… I am so grateful for the cold water and air conditioning. And, as always, I am thankful for you.

The last couple of weeks, I’ve been sharing a bit about a project I’m working on – identifying my top values, ten words that help keep me focused and moving towards what matters to me. But today, it dawned on me that 2023 is half over. The second half of the year starts today. For some reason, it felt a bit like a punch in the gut.

Am I making progress? Are you? My fear is that, about this time, there are those of us who may have lost our way just a bit – taken our eyes off what we wanted from this year. Many people, when they stop and realize that they haven’t been focusing on their goals, they just toss them in the garbage.

Let’s not be those people. Let’s remember that every tomorrow is a new day – a chance to start fresh. There is nothing that says we must wait until the first of the year, or the first of the month. We’ve got now.

What have you been meaning to do but have gotten sidetracked? How has that little voice in your head been discouraging you? Today, we’re going to quiet that voice. We’re going to remind ourselves of our strength, value, and direction. And we’re going to take one step forward. That’s all.

We don’t have to solve all the world’s problems. We don’t have to accomplish our goal in one day. We just need to start moving, building momentum.

What does that look like for me? Well, I’ve seen myself splitting my focus in two directions – my journey towards transparency and my supporting my friends as they prepare for [un]retirement. It’s okay to pursue two things, but I think we can all benefit if I start bringing my two things together.

As I share about me, I want to continue to learn about you. As I identify and work towards my goals, I want to help you do the same. What does that look like?

I would like to share a little more of what is going on with you. If you’ll allow me, I’ll talk about some of your dreams and how you are living [un]retirement. We’ll likely talk a little about financial stuff because I think I’m doing you a disservice if I don’t keep you informed.

I hope you’ll continue reading my emails. I hope you’ll continue responding and updating me on your journeys. And I hope we will continue growing our community. If you know someone who might benefit from these messages, I ask that you share.

As the world continues to move faster and faster, we must be more deliberate in our connection. I’m grateful that we get to do that together.

-John
